earBuzz Review:
Christopher Hagadone's CD, "Keep it Real to You", is an instrumentally focused electronic album that includes spoken encouragement with a positive vibe. He applies effects like echo and reverb to the spoken parts in track, "Don't Give Up". The song has dj scratches and cartoon vocal samples played percussively atop a piano based riff. "Tomorrow" is another angelic anthem-like instrumental with methodical string underpinnings supporting piano/string swells nicely. He branches into a pop instrumental electronic vibe in "Shooting Star" and we are reminded a bit of the theme from Chariot's of Fire. The throwback is a nice reminiscent throwback into an era when instrumentals routinely broke the top 10 in American music. One of the more ambitious tunes is slow instrumental groover, "It Seems like Yesterday". Syncopated and sporadic drum programming support swells and echoed key parts. It's a wash of sound and one of four CDs here.
